Goshen, Indiana

Pastor Lanzen joined the Pastoral Staff at First Baptist in 1981. After serving as Associate Pastor of Christian Education, Youth and Music for 15 years, in 1997 he was called to assume the role of Senior Pastor upon the retirement of Rev. Louis H. Showers (Pastor Emeritus).

Pastor Lanzen is a 1974 graduate of Faith Baptist Bible College of Ankeny, Iowa, (BS Bible & CE) and also holds a Diploma in Christian Education Administration from the Evangelical Training Association of Wheaton, Illinois. He is a Level II Certified Biblical Counselor (see Our Ministries) through the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is also Certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Intervention and Management. Pastor Lanzen serves as an Executive Associate, curriculum writer and conference speaker with Word Of Life Clubs of Schroon Lake, New York. He has written articles for local, regional and national periodicals. Pastor Lanzen is currently pursuing his Doctoral studies in Biblical Counseling through Southwest Bible Seminary in Jennings, Louisiana.

Pastor Lanzen has served as a Volunteer Firefighter for over 30 years holding the positions of EMT and Company Captain for over 20 years until resigning his commission to pursue the role of Fire Department Chaplain. He is currently a Co-Chaplain with Associate Pastor James Shrock (see Our Staff) for the Goshen City and Elkhart Township Fire Departments. He is a Member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains headquartered in Clifton, Texas.

Pastor Lanzen and Marcia his wife have been married for over 35 years and have four adult sons, three daughters-in-law and six grand-daughters. They enjoy motorcycle and bicycle riding, reading and entertaining guests in their home.
