Pastor Gregg began serving as a pastor in December of 1973 while completing his Bachelor's Degree at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA. After serving associate pastorates in Silvis, and Oswego, IL, in December of 1981 he was called to join our staff here at FBC as the Associate Pastor of Christian Education. Upon the retirement of Rev. Louis Showers in 1996, Pastor Gregg was asked to assume the Lead Pastor role and has served officially in that capacity since April of 1997. Pastor Gregg and his wife Marcia (Thomson), have been married since August 1973 and have four adult sons, their spouses, and 15 grandchildren. Pastor Gregg is an ordained minister of the Gospel, and holds earned Master's and Doctorate Degrees in Christian Counseling Psychology. Along with being our Lead Pastor and overseeing all of the ministries of FBC, he serves as the Director of New Path Christian Counseling Services (llc.), and is a Police and Fire Department Chaplain for Goshen and surrounding communities. Pastor Gregg enjoys studying the rich spiritual depth of God's Word, the Bible, and sharing it with us through his practical preaching and teaching each week. He has also taught at conferences throughout the mid-west and at the Northeast India Baptist Bible College & Seminary in Silchar, Assam, India. Pastor Gregg enjoys spending time with Marcia maintaining their home or riding their bicycles and picking up aluminum cans along the road for recycling, riding his motorcycle and spoiling his grandchildren.
Pastor Jim was called to serve First Baptist Church, Goshen as Associate Pastor in 2000. He has lived in Goshen his entire life and attended FBC since 1972, when, as a freshman in High School, he was invited to become part of the youth group by Youth Pastor Dan Brower and classmate Jim Showers. Pastor Jim served as Youth Pastor until 2008 when he moved into family ministries.He married Rebecca in October of 1980 and they have two children, Elizabeth (Betsy) and Catherine. Betsy has two children, Liam and Myles and Cathy recently married Michael Johnson. Pastor Jim attended IUSB studying Criminal Law and is currently enrolled in online studies through Dallas Theological and Hillsdale College. He is also in the process of completing his Biblical Counseling certification through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. One of the verses Pastor Jim especially loves is found in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding, abundantly above anything we could ask or think.”
Pastor Brant began serving as a pastor in 1999 and has been the Associate Pastor of Worship and Student Ministries at First Baptist since July of 2008. He and his wife, Angelia, have been married since July of 1998 and have four children: Brityna, Wesley, Meggy, and Jamys. Pastor Brant graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA, in 1998 with a degree in Bible and Church Music Ministry. Since then he has been ordained in the fall of 2011 and continued his education with Biblical Counseling training from Faith Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN. Pastor Brant, along with the youth leadership team, coordinates the activities and ministry opportunities for the 7th through 12th grade young people of our church in the Fusion Student Ministry. He also plans the Sunday Worship services and directs the special musical programs of the church. Pastor Brant has a passion for teaching young people the Word of God and leading our church in meaningful praise of our Almighty God.
Beth Polsean joined the staff as the office manager in July of 2015. She and her family have attended First Baptist since 2001. Beth and her husband John reside in Syracuse, Indiana. They have three grown children (Tim, Aaron & Laura), a daughter-in-law (Alicia) and 3 grandchildren (Jaidyn, Josie & Jenna). Spending time with family brings Beth great joy. She also enjoys cheering on the Chicago Bears and her dietary Achilles heel is fudgy brownies. Beth embarked on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at the age of 8 when she trusted in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross as payment for her sin. She enjoys reading the book of Hebrews where one of her favorite passages is in chapter 10 and verse 23. “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He Who promised is faithful".
